Inspiration

Chopin, Polish, and the University of Miami
I was drawn to Chopin and even asked my mother’s boss—who was Polish—to teach me the language. Not conversational but just the basics, enough to feel a bit closer to the composer and the music.
Through her, I met her husband John, who introduced me to the Vice President of the Chopin Foundation in Miami. I was invited to play, and that led to a year’s scholarship at the University of Miami School of Music.
I still remember working on Chopin’s Etude Op. 25 No.1.
